Why does she love EVERYONE?
I wonder sometimes, why does my MJ smile at EVERYONE? I mean, really. Can she be somewhat selective? I should be thankful, right? That she smiles at the check out girl at Sprouts, that she smiles at the old man at Target, that she smiles at the kids at school and even waves and smiles at PJ’s teacher. I should be happy. What a happy baby!
Well, I’m starting to worry. She’s so easy to please. This weekend, we put that kid through holy hell. Going on a whirlwind of adventures from Sea World to LegoLand. All in 48 hours. Keep in mind, MJ is 10 months old. Yes, folks, she is a BABY! But this kid is somethin’. Anyway, although, I’m very thankful for her extremely amiable nature with strangers, it worries me and makes me feel a bit insecure.
OK…you are now wondering, what the hell…what is the problem? That kid is every parent’s dream, right? Come on, have you ever had your kid hold hands with your friend and sing with glee or maybe ask to stay longer at someone’s house or cry when you pick them up from preschool or camp because they DON’T want to leave? You feel hurt. You feel forgotten. But most of all, you feel needed and wonder…why? Why in the world is my kid not clammering for ME!?! I am MOM! I am GREAT! I brought you in this world, for Christ’s sake!
And all of a sudden…you realize…my kid is really happy! She is a happy kid. And then…you smile.
